SIERRA NEVADA

PALE ALE

PORTER

Dark and rich, Sierra Nevada Porter is a delicious, medium-bodied ale with a creamy head. The Porter’s smooth flavor (malty with hints of caramel) comes from a blend of deep-roasted barley malts.

WHEAT

Pale, smooth, and light-bodied, Sierra Nevada Wheat Beer is brewed from premium malted wheat and light barley malts, utilizing our traditional ale yeast. This unfiltered ale is finished with the characteristically spicy Strissel Spalt hops from the Alsace region of France.

STOUT

Creamy, malty, and full-bodied, the Sierra Nevada Stout is satisfyingly rich. Caramel and Black malts give the Stout its deep, dark color and pronounced roasted flavor.

ESB

Our ESB combines the best of English tradition with West Coast style. A blend of malts featuring British-grown Maris Otter is balanced with the earthy spiciness of hand-selected English and US hops. The ale is left unfiltered, which enhances mouthfeel and hop aroma creating a slightly reddish-copper hue.alcohol content 5.9%

SUMMERFEST

Our Summerfest is a refreshing, pilsner-style lager. Its incredible smoothness comes from an extra-long lagering period. Lighter in body than our ales but just as complex in character, Summerfest quenches your thirst with big aroma and a tangy hop bite.

ANNIVERSARY ALE

Each fall we celebrate our anniversary as one of America’s craft brewing pioneers with a special beer.

Anniversary Ale is an American-style IPA featuring Cascade hops, the signature hop used in our Pale Ale. The beer has a pronounced pine and citrus hop aroma balanced by the sweetness of two-row pale and caramel malts. The result is an unusually well-balanced IPA that proves an IPA can be both assertive and elegant. Anniversary Ale is a medium-bodied, well-hopped ale that finishes with a slight malt sweetness. alcohol content 5.9%

CELEBRATION ALE

BIGFOOT BARLEY WINE

This year marks the 25th release of Bigfoot®. Our award-winning barleywine boasts a dense, fruity bouquet, an intense flavor palate and a deep reddish-brown color. Its big maltiness is superbly balanced by a wonderfully bittersweet hoppiness. alcohol content 9.6% by volume

HARVEST CHICO ESTATE

We wanted to see if we could grow hops at our brewery in Chico, California so we planted our own hop field selecting our prized Cascade and Centennial varieties along with some specialty hop varieties to experiment with. To our surprise, we not only could grow hops, we were also able to harvest them in late summer due to Chico’s ideal climate.

Chico Estate Harvest Ale is one of the very few estate harvest ales produced anywhere in the world today. All the hops in the beer are grown naturally on the premises of our brewery in Chico. We pick the hops ourselves and then take them directly to the brew kettle, without being dried, just after picking so they retain nearly all of their natural oils and resins. It is made with Cascade, Centennial and Chinook hops. Until now, this beer has only been available in draft. Starting this year, we will be bottling it on a very limited basis, with plans to expand its availability as we expand our Chico hop field in the coming years.

HARVEST WEP HOT

The cornerstone of our Harvest series is the beer that started the modern-day fresh hop ale phenomenon in America, our original Harvest Ale.

Created in 1996, Harvest Ale features Cascade and Centennial hops from the Yakima Valley in Eastern Washington. These hops are harvested and shipped as “wet” un-dried hops—the same day they are picked—to our brewery in Chico where our brewers eagerly wait to get them into the brew kettle while their oils and resins are still at their peak. alcohol content 6.7% by volume

HARVEST SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE

I haven’t been able to get a hold of Sierra Nevada’s Harvest Ale in my area, so when I saw this 1st release of their Southern Hemisphere version of the brew I jumped on the remaining bottles my local candy shop had. Apparently the hops in this latest beer are harvested in New Zealand and incorporated into a batch of this brew within a week of being picked. That’s a hell of a time table to keep. I have trouble getting out the door to work most days, let alone on a consistent basis.

Appearance
This Harvest sibling pours a clean amber with a fluffy, white head that left good lacing as it faded.

Aroma
Obviously, this one smells hoppy, but it’s got a fresh piney aroma as well. There’s a slight sweetness in the nose, but it’s very subtle.

Taste
Much like every other hoppy beer that Sierra Nevada makes (specifically their Celebration brew), this one tastes wonderful. It’s not a super hopped up brew, but is quite refined and balanced with a subtle and lingering bitterness that’s more than welcome to hang around a bit.

Overall
Once again, this California brewer exceeds expectations with their latest addition to the Harvest series. I’ve purchased several bottles of this one in the past couple of weeks and have only one left and it’s killing me at this very moment not to open it up and enjoy.

RUTHLESS WEISS BEER

This unfiltered ale is fermented with special wheat beer yeast imparting a clove-like spiciness of vanilla and nutmeg, combined with a fruitiness reminiscent of bananas or apples. Low in bitterness and mildly tart, with a soft roundness characteristic of a Hefeweizen (hazy wheat beer).
